Two core high-impact tutoring programs and one short add-on. Each is supplemental support for students enrolled in NYC public schools, selected by their school, and delivered to the NYC HIT standards.
High-impact tutoring has the strongest effects for students who have specific skill gaps but can reach proficiency with consistent extra practice. In NYCPS’s MTSS framework these are Tier II students.
Middle and high school texts get harder every year, and students without strong comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary fall further behind in every subject. Literacy tutoring builds those skills directly, using texts matched to what students are reading in class.
Tutors work from the school’s ELA units and pacing. Texts are drawn from, or closely matched to, classroom texts so tutoring prepares students for the reading they will actually be assigned.
Writing practice follows the school’s own rubrics and routines for writing about text.
A baseline diagnostic of skills and fluency, exit tickets every session, and oral reading fluency checks every two weeks.
At the end of the cycle, results on our measures are compared with your school’s benchmark assessment where available.
Middle school math is where small gaps turn into large ones. A student who never mastered fractions struggles with ratios, then with equations, then with Algebra I. Math tutoring finds the specific skill that is missing and builds fluency forward from there, while keeping pace with class.
Tutors use the same problem types, models, and vocabulary as your math curriculum, including Illustrative Mathematics under NYC Solves where your school uses it.
Each week mixes support for the current unit with targeted work on the prerequisite skills that unit depends on.
A baseline skills diagnostic, exit tickets every session, and a cumulative skill check every two weeks.
At the end of the cycle, results are compared with your school’s benchmark, such as the i-Ready Math diagnostic, where available.
Mental Arts teaches students the methods that learning science supports most strongly, and has them use those methods on their own coursework. It is included in every literacy and math cycle, and is also available as a standalone module.
Why rereading feels effective but isn’t, and how to check real understanding before a test checks it for you.
Turning class notes into questions to answer later, so the notes become a practice tool rather than a transcript.
Retrieval practice, a simple spaced-review schedule, and memory techniques for material that must be memorized.
Finding the exact step that fails, practicing it with feedback, and mixing problem types to build lasting skill.
In core cycles: about ten minutes a week. As a module: six 30-minute sessions, same ratios, live.
The evidence →We are a tutoring provider that works with schools. Our role is to add consistent, high-dosage practice to the instruction students already receive.
Tell us your grades, subjects, number of students, and timing. Within two school days we’ll reply with next steps, and after a short call with your HIT team we’ll send a written proposal: model, schedule, data plan, and price.
